Hi @vfavrat,
you should go to the Widgets section (Appearance > widgets).
Then you choose the area where you want to add the widget and, in the end, you click on the Add button (latest WordPress version) and you select the Daily Readings widget.
Once done, you can configure it as you prefer.

What you propose is impossible because with FSE there is no “Widgets” menu.
The only thing I could do is create a page and I put the short code [sc_daily_readings]. On my homepage I just have a link to this page.

It seams you have to download a plugin in order to enable legacy widgets.
