    Hi

I have a Feedzy widget in the right sidebar of my website. When I added the widget all the expected content came through from the source – https://sources.u3a.org.uk/?format=feed&type=rss

There is a new post on the source, published on May 22, but it is not showing in the widget even if I refresh the page.

I have a cache time of 1 hour set in the widget parameters.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

    Ian

    Hi,
I suggest you follow the steps presented here https://docs.themeisle.com/article/1155-feedzy-troubleshooting-guide, especially checking the feed using https://simplepie.org/demo/.

If the missing post is not visible there, it means there is an issue with the feed itself.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Rodica

Thanks Rodica. I know the feed is valid, because I can read it into a widget using ‘Super RSS Reader’ and the content is up to date. There must be something about it that Feedzy doesn’t like for some reason, but I have no idea what.

If I cannot get Feedzy to read it I will just have to try a different plugin.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hello Ian,

Thank you for sharing more details, and for mentioning that you feed works in Super RSS Reader. Even with a valid feed, different plugins can have specific requirements or parsing methods that lead to compatibility issues.

Think of it like this: a valid feed is like a perfectly good book. Super RSS Reader might be able to read that book no matter the font or layout. Feedzy, on the other hand, might have stricter preferences – maybe it needs a specific font size, or perhaps it expects chapters to be marked in a very particular way to process them correctly.

The documentation I shared outlines Feedzy’s specific requirements for feeds.

If going through the Feedzy documentation and comparing it to your feed’s structure doesn’t reveal the discrepancy, let us know.

    Kind regards!

    Hi Again

The only thing I can find is a warning about a dangerous style attribute – https://validator.w3.org/feed/docs/warning/DangerousStyleAttr.html

Would this stop Feedzy from working on this feed?

    Thanks

    Hi Ian,

No, that shouldn’t stop Feedzy. Have you also checked the feed with https://simplepie.org/demo/?

Does it look like you expect it to be?

    Kind regards!

Apologies for the delay in responding, I have been away for 10 days.

When I test the feed using that service it tells me that the URL does not appear to correspond to a valid RSS or Atom feed. I have told the developers of the RSS feed about the problems, so hopefully they will be able to sort it out.

    Thanks for your help.

    Ian
