Widget placement

I’m using the free Enigma theme. It looks like the only option for the adding widgets is in the footer. That’s the only option when that appears when I’m customizing widgets. When I edited the page called “Home” I selected the page with left sidebar template. Now when I customize widgets, the sidebar option appears. I’ve added two widgets, but they don’t show up on the page. I start to detect a subtle difference between the home page and the front page. So far, I’ve added content to the front page by activating service and portfolio, both “on home” The text found on the page I’ve titled Home is nowhere to be found. I’m missing something here. hope you can help.
