    Hello,

So I updgraded to the latest Version 5.13.3 a few days ago and now I am noticing when folks create a new listing but don’t upload any photos/pictures for the listings, the WIDGET for Business Directory now shows those listings but for the picture it is using the thumbnail on my most recent blog post.

I had two new listings submited a few hours ago and one upload a picture, for that one the widget showed the picture they uploaded. for the other one that did not upload an image the widget is showing my most recent blog post feature image for the listing in the WIDGET.

Hope all that makes sense. 😉

UPDATE: This is not just doing this for the WIDGET but also when you go to view the listing. If the listing has no uploaded picture is shows the image of my latest blog post.

For those effected listings I try to upload an image which it does but it still shows the image from the latest blog post and not the image I uploaded. I had to manually go into the new listings and move the invisible (meaning no image shown but it thinks there is one there) “Default” image down. Then move my uploaded image up to be default. then I could delete the invisible image that it would pull from my most recent blog post. It is bizzar to explain but something is going on.

I am having to revert back to the previous version of Business Directory v5.13.1 that worked right for me for the time being.

    Hi @palkat

Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a problem here. I’ll be happy to help!

Since I haven’t been able to reproduce this on my test site, will you check if you have the same issue under these conditions?

    • all other plugins deactivated
    • any custom code removed
    • WP 2020 theme active
    • running the current version of the Business Directory Plugin
    • running the current version of WordPress
    • all site, server, and browser caches cleared

You can find more detail on how to find a conflict in the docs.

If you do have the same issue under those conditions, please let me know. I’ll also need specific steps to see the issue that you’re seeing, as well as a listing showing where this is happening.

    Hi Garret,

I clear cache many times still having the issue. and I did deactivate all plugins last night when I discovered this with no luck.

So I just cleared all caches again, then upgraded from 5.13.1 to latest 5.13.3 and instantly the most recent listing someone added a couple days ago that had NO images was assigned to a blog post featured image. I then on the back end went to go edit that listing and the back end showed NO images. So on the backend of that listing i uploaded a simple image, then it showed the uploaded image and the blog post image it was using. I was able to delete both images from the back and it it looks ok.

I then created a new listing with no image and it automaticly used a blog post featured image on its own.

Switching back to version 5.13.1, added a new listing with NO image and all is ok.

It really feels like something is turely going on with this latest version as just upgrading to it automaticly adds a blog post image to listings with no image.

Alright did some more playing here and so far with the new version (5.13.3) it is doing ok with existing listings with no images and 3 new test listings I created with no images. Here is what I did:

    —[Start Process]—
    Clear Cache

Disabled all plugin except for business directory

Update Business Directory from 5.13.1 to 5.13.3

create a test listing with no image

    published test listing

verified new test listing with no image, and no blog images have been applied by system.

turned back on all other plugins

verified test listing still has no image. (so far so good)

    deleted test listing

went to another computer at another location in the country (using remote access) created a new listing again with NO image.

published new listings and still no image (looking better!!)

back on my machine and machine across country verified new listing is still not showing image. It is NOT showing any images as specified.
    —[End Process]—

Hopefully all that made sense. So now I feel with the simple testing I HOPE it is ok. will monitor it closely over the days and hope I don’t have to revert back to 5.13.1.

The only thing I can think of is clearing the cache many times, disabling all plugins and more cache clearing, update the business directory plugin while all other plugins are still disabled and clearing cache yet again. All this I hope cleared out whatever was causing this strange issue.

I want to run a database cleaning but afraid to after all this.

Will keep you posted if things change for the worse again… Hoping for the best!

    Hi @palkat

Thanks for that information! I’m glad to hear you got this solved!

If you don’t flush the cache after an operation, you’ll be seeing old data on your browser. That is likely what happened here.

We recommend clearing the server cache if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.

The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a private browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.

NOTE: If you do use a caching plugin, two of the pages should NOT be cached: Submit Listing and the Payment Thanks pages (technically they’re URLs). That will make it so the data goes through to BD correctly.

If you have any other questions or issues, feel free to reach out anytime!
