• Hi

I’m trying to customize the widgets on my page; but I don’t want the widgets to appear on all my pages, for example: if it’s a footer widget with ‘contact information’, I want it to appear ONLY on the footer of the ‘Contact us’ page….how can this be done?

  • Hey there gaguilar_et,

    Hope you’re well today 🙂

You should be able to achieve that by using Custom Sidebars one of the WPMU DEV plugins.

What it does is simply allows you to replace sidebar (such as the one in your footer) and display another sidebar with different widgets on specific pages, posts etc.

Please let me know if this helps 🙂

    Cheers,
    Bojan

    Hi Bojan

I installed the Custom Sidebars plugin and watched the tutorial several times but, to begin with, nothing appears in my ‘widget section’ when I install the plugin (to begin working with the customization of the sidebars). The plugin installs successfully and I could try to start working with it directly from it, but I can’t start working with it as the tutorial may lead me because the option doesn’t appear 🙁 What could it be?

    Hey again,

After installing and activating the plugin you should be able to see the following screen in Appearance -> Widgets http://screencast.com/t/dPdOK1ePXyH8.

I’ve activated the theme that you’re using just to make sure there are options in the admin. Are you not seeing the screen above?

    Please advise,
    Bojan

    Hi Bojan

I can see that in the tutorial, but it doesn’t happen when I try it…so I tried ‘deactivating’ it and activating it again, but no…should I uninstall and re-install?

How can I send you a print screen here? 🙁

    Hey again gaguilar_et,

You can use services like dropbox or imgur .

I personally use Jing which is a small app that allows you to take a screenshot and upload it immediately to screencast.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    Hi Bojan

You wouldn’t believe what happened; I had installed the wrong plugin, and was watching the tutorial for the other one….LOL! So I installed the one you recommended and i’m gonna try it…although it says that it’s been ‘untested with my version of WP’

I’ll let you know….thanks for the follow up and patience 🙂

    Hey gaguilar_et,

That’s pretty funny, I’m actually glad you figured that out since I was starting to run out of questions 😛

Don’t worry about the “version of WP”, plugin should work just fine on the latest version.

Please let me know how that goes and if you have any additional questions 🙂

    Cheers,
    Bojan

Hi Bojan! So I tried this but it doesn’t do what I need it to 🙁 so for now I’ll leave it like this and see what I can do further….

    Thanks for the help!!!

    Hey again,

    Fair enough 🙂

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers,
    Bojan
