At this time you can’t edit widgets unfortunately, only posts and pages, and supported post types. However, once I’ve finished planned improvements for that, I’ll look into editing widgets too. 🙂

Thanks for the quick answer. I think a lot of us would love the ability to edit widgetized pages using a front-page editor. Hope it comes soon.
I’ll do my best. I try to release every week or so. Maybe in a week or four I’ll take a look depending on how much time I can put into it. Just basic editing of text widgets would be a cool start.

That would definitely be a very good start. Since Genesis relies heavily on widgetized front-pages, this would be helpful.

Version 1.1 of a front-end editor plugin called The Wunderbar was just released today, and it lets you create editable Widgets just like you’re describing. The Wunderbar adds a WYSIWYG editor to WordPress, like WordPress’s “Front End Editor” but with much greater capabilities. It edits pages and posts with extensive word-proccessor-style formatting options.
The just-released version also allows comments to be edited, plus it adds a Wunderbar widget. The widget works just like the built-in text widget, except this one enables full WYSIWYG editing of the widget contents on any page they appear.
