widgets on category page

Hello, I was looking for the way to add “articles” on a page. It seems that the only way is to create a categorie and add this category on my menu (it’s right ?)
And I would like to add widgets on the category page as well you’ve done on your example http://demo.themesandco.com/comment-test/
