After the wordpress update 5.8 the widgets that are associated with a single language are displayed also with every other languages. Changing the setting in the widget block editor has no effect, all widgets are associated now with all languages.

  • Hi, @pauljvanleeuwen

It seems to be a compatibility issue with Polylang widgets with 5.8.
Several people already asked about this at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/polylang/
The plugin’s developers and support community from the above mentioned forum can tell you more about this.

    Kind regards!`

I installed the Classic Widgets plug-in, which solved the issue. It blocks the block editor from managing widgets.

I’m glad it worked with Classic Widgets. Thanks for sharing your solution. Let’s hope Polylang updates their plugin soon, so Polylang users can use the power of Block Widgets too.
    🙂
