First thing to check is to go to the Widgets admin page and click on Screen Options at the top right. If it says “Disable accessibility mode”, click on that text link. If this is not the issue, you may need to go to the WordPress support forums and do a search for this….I know some people experience this.
However, judging from the other issues you posted, I’m thinking perhaps your WordPress installation did not go 100%. For this, it cannot be the theme because Preference Lite has been around for quite awhile and already has over 87,000 downloads.
But to confirm this, switch to the WP default theme Twenty Thirteen and see if all of your issues are solved?
Wow, I cannot click on Screen Options. Nothing happens. I changed to Twenty thirteen and no change. I redownloaded WordPress and nothing changed.
Very frustrating. I will be changing hosting providers soon and maybe a fresh install of everything will help.

Interesting as it sounds like something is locking up various functions in your WordPress. do you have any third party plugins installed? If so, maybe deactivate them and see what happens. Just the other day someone was using a plugin and it was messing up their dashboard.
Well, yes, that was it! The plugin I’m using to do a slideshow is messing things up. GRRR…now I need to find a different slideshow plugin from Slideshow Gallery. And I really liked that one too. Suggestions for slideshows that you know work with your theme?
There’s many out there so it’s more of trying them out. If you are wanting something responsive, best to also make sure that whatever you find, is a responsive slider.
