Widgets will not save (only text widget will)

    This is a client website – when the site went live all widgets worked perfectly, now (after WP updates, and a hosting migration) the widgets will not save. None of them, EXCEPT the text widget, that alone will save, no other standard wordpress widgets (calendar, tag cloud, etc.) or any others will save. I have been through all the support articles possible to find on this issue. I have tried the following:

    1. disabling/re-enabling plugins as outlined : does not work
    2. enabling/disabling accessibility mode
    3. theme switching/theme re-naming – this is not a theme issue
    4. and some other miscellaneous things… all to no avail.

    Please help!

    Hi sunni77,

    for me, the problem as i mentioned in the other thread (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/widgets-not-saving-again?replies=20#post-5298045) was due to the interaction between WordPress and another CMS, SPIP, installed on the same server account. I installed WordPress on a subfolder while SPIP was installed at the root. SPIP had a special security screen (ecran_securite.php) which was in conflict with the Worpress widgets. Removing this security screen solved the problem.

    You mention that your problem occurred after a hosting migration. Is your WP installation alone on the new domain?

    I don’t think this is related to a particular version of WP.
