wildcards

I use a url patern to exclude a widget for certain pages (e.g. /downloads/).
It works fine
But, after i added a second language i tried a wild card patern (e.g. /dowlnoads/*) to cover all the other languages.
But is not working any more. widget is showing in all pages.

the url is: /downloads/?lang=el
