    Hello,

First and foremost, thank you so much for developing a intuitive, animated plugin. It definitely surpasses my expectations. Kudos for a remarkable job! 🙂

Quick question: Does this plugin block countries ahead of time before apache processes are triggered, thus utilizing more memory/resources?

Lately, I have been getting a surge of requests (mainly bots) outside of the US and my apache processes are growing exponentially by the day.

I am trying to find a way to circumvent the unnecessary load on my server mainly caused by spammers/bots.

I hope this plugin can act as a barrier for apache before apache responds to each illegitimate request.

Thank you once again for all your contribution and phenomenal support!

    All my best,

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

Thank you for your comment and proposal.

I have a plan to make this plugin to be a firewall connected to Fail2ban. Fail2ban can handle iptables so that unwanted spam bots or attacks might be filtered out on the network layer level.

Regarding the WordPress plugins, it’s already done by WP fail2ban and WP Fail2Ban Redux

I equipped this plugin an action hook in 3.0.2 for that purpose. But I still have to learn about how to control iptables.

I’ll try in the future but can’t say when I can do it.
    Thanks again!
