Will this plugin ever be updated?

    This was a great little plugin. It is a shame it has fallen so out of date – I believe that fact can introduce security vulnerabilities. What is the situation here? It appears that the authors have abandoned the product. Is it open source? Can someone else take over development?

    This aspect of WordPress plugins being abandoned is very frustrating.
