    Hello,

I would like to know if Wordfence or Wordfence central will report to me about outdated plugins?

What I mean is will you compare my versions against your own database off free and premium plugins?

Because if plugins are disabled they often do not check for updates, or sometimes the update system in place in premium plugins just does not report there is an update.

So if you have a big database with a lot of information on all the plugins out there, both free and premium, I would like you to tell me that a plugin is outdated even if my site does not (yet) show there is an update available.

    Will Wordfence do this?

    Thank you)

    Hi @heel1,

Firstly in short, yes Wordfence and Wordfence Central both compare your installed plugins against outdated and versions with a known vulnerability.

In more detail, we frequently update our own records to ensure versions are in line with the plugins repository. For premium plugins where the version information doesn’t come from the ww.wp.xz.cn repository, it is up to the developers to hook into the WordPress plugins_api to return compatible and up-to-date version numbers for Wordfence to see.

It’s also important to note that the quantity of traffic to the site can be a factor with how timely WP Crons are triggered. If Wordfence scan crons become overdue, that may affect how timely an outdated plugin is discovered.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

    Thank you for explaining.

The Wordfence premium when used on single site installs I can only use it on one url correct? (25 websites needs 25 licenses)

But when installed on a multisite install, the one license is valid for the whole multisite install with unlimited urls? (so 25 websites only need 1 license)

    Thanks, Tijmen

    Hi @heel1,

Due to ww.wp.xz.cn rules, I can only discuss the Wordfence Free plugin here. If you paste the questions above to our team at presales @ wordfence . com, our team will be more than happy to help with those and any supplementary questions about Premium licenses you have.

    Thanks again,
    Peter.
