Windows 8 and flightbox
-
When using flightbox (at least for PDFs) in Windows 8, the fligthbox windows appears very small… it could be possible to enlarge it?
This happens with Firefox.
Using IE does not even display it .. it jumps to the Windows 8 PDF reader interface.
Thanks in advance.

Well I am using Windows 8 and Flightbox works fine in all browsers, so I don’t think either Windows 8 OR the browser is the issue you’re having. You’ll have to try to dig deeper and see if you can come up with some other possible explanation for the abnormal behavior you’re experiencing. I’ll help you if you can give me a little more to go on.
Thanks for the answer… I will continue my investigation.
If you’d like to send me details:
screenshots of all issues
your browser versions
metro browser/desktop browser
other javascript plugins installed
any browser add-ons installedIs the problem consistent throughout all browsers? (Is it small in Chrome?) Do you have any browser add-ons installed? Try disabling them and see if the PDF still downloads rather than embedding. etc.
Sorry for been late to answer.
I run IE 11.0.12 it does not download the pdf but open its own interface. In Firefox I think that the problem is that I am running in a very small machine (Asus Book T100) with a resolution of 1368×768
I do not have any browser add on.
I think i can live with this.
Thanks for your help.
OK. Thanks for the info. I will test the Flightbox in smaller resolutions and try to have some adjustments for the size issue by next release (soon). I will try to get a hold of IE 11.0.12 and see if I can duplicate your issue.
I changed my desktop resolution to 1280×768 (smaller than yours). To my eyes this looks just fine. Here’s a screenshot: http://imgur.com/n1nR5hh
Is that comparable to what you’re seeing?
On the other issue, I’m still installing Windows Updates (for hours now), so I can reboot, and then hopefully be allowed to upgrade to Windows 8.1, so that I can reboot, then hopefully be allowed to install MSIE 11, so I can check on the PDF issue. I did Google IE 11 + PDF iframe, however, and it does seem to be an issue that IE 11 has created in general with embedding PDFs in iframes. If I ever get 11 installed, I see if there’s anything I can do about it.
OK. So after a whole day of updating from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 (and in the process losing my family’s Windows user account because apparently 8.1 only allows microsoft accounts now), I now have IE11 installed, and PDF works just fine in the flightbox. Here’s a screenshot: http://imgur.com/SDMQufY
I am sorry about your windows user lost!!
However I already solved the mystery of the small flightbox in may Windows 8.
As I said I am using a very small machine (that gives me 10 hours work on its batteries) and then I increase the magnification factor for the size of all items in the screen … and this is the issue … the larger the factor that you set… the smaller the window of the flightbox shows.

By the way if you want to have a look to my page here you have it:
No worries about the user thing. I manager to restore it. I was just very sleepy I guess.
1) Thanks for the link to your site. By the way, the PDFs are loading up fine for me in IE 11 on your site, in the Flightbox where they’re supposed to be.
2) I have made some adjustments to the way the PDF Flightbox window is sized. I adjust the maxheight and maxwidth to be larger if the window size is below a certain threshhold. Hopefully that will make things better and not worse. 🙂
Changes will be implemented in the next release.
3.6 is now up. Please read the changelog.
