Hi there, I was using the TranslatePress plugin on kapsamsaglik.com.tr. I cloned the site of the month and will be using the TranslatePress plugin on kapsam.pl as well. The default language in kapsamsaglik.com.tr address was Turkish, and the second language was English. What I want to do at the kapsam.pl address I cloned is this; Let my default language be Polish and the second language be English. But when I enter translation, it does not allow translation for the default language. I am adding 3 languages: Turkish, English, Polish. Use a subdirectory for the default language I check this option as “Yes”, but this time it is kapsam.pl/pl. What I want to do is just kapsam.pl (Polish) and kapsam.pl/en (English) on my site. Thank you in advance for your help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @zaferbayarworks,

If you clone your site kapsamsaglik.com.tr to kapsam.p, and that includes the translation, I want to mention that you can’t change the default language without losing the translations. So if, on site kapsam.p, the default language is now Turkish, you can’t change it to Polish without losing the existing translations.

Changing the default language will invalidate existing translations, as translations in TranslatePress are directional. We cannot retain them because you would also need to update all your content to match the new default language. The default language is the language in which your original content is written.

With that said, you can navigate to TranslatePress > Settings and enable the option “Use a subdirectory for the default language.” Then, go to TranslatePress > Settings > All Languages and set Polish as the first language.

Following these steps will ensure that users see Polish as the first language when accessing the site. To switch to Turkish or English, they will need to click on the language switcher. However, if you choose this option, please note that /pl will be added to the URL — as all additional languages require a language code in the URL.

Also, with our plugin, you can only translate from the default language to additional languages, not the other way around. So, if you want to have Polish as the default language on your site, all content must be written in Polish in order for the automatic translation to work correctly into the additional languages.
