• Do the developers need any help? Problems seem to get worse and worse every time an update is introduced.

It’s a wonderful plugin that everyone must have, but these updates will just keep your site down. If you run a high traffic site, only take a chance at these updates during times when the least amount of users are on your site and tell them there is maintenance or something. Then you’ll have to just be heuristic and use trial-and-error until you get it right.

I think enough updates are enough; it’s best not to tarnish the name of a great plugin like this.

If you follow the basic rules of updating a wordpress site you will be fine. Make a back up, upgrade the plugin, if it doesn’t work then roll back. You should also always use a plugin to turn your site off while doing maintenance. Like Ultimate Coming Soon Page.
The reason for this upgrade is to resolve all of the issues I’ve had to troubleshoot because of having separate database tables to store all of the settings. My original intention with this plugin was to have everything stored in post meta but that was WP 2.9.2 and there were no advanced meta queries. Now that advanced meta queries work so well it is time to move forward and get rid of the separate tables that only seem to cause problems for some users. The new interface is also nice because again I have dealt with many people that simply couldn’t understand how to use the plugin because they got confused about disabled and enabled.
