WooCommerce Category Pages Modification

Hello! I am trying to set up a store in WooCommerce, and it seems to not allow some pretty basic modifications.

I would like to have a search by category return with a list of products that includes picture on the left and the description on the right – all on the category catalog page. I can’t find any way to do this.

A quick search showed that a lot of php coding is required to make WooCommerce do anything – is this the case for my request?
