Hello there,
This kind of problem is usually caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
The best way to determine this is to:
- Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
- Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
- Repeat the action that is causing the problem
If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.
Hi Nicola,
Thank you so much for your reply. I will try it out. Tell me, if all else fails I would like to uninstall and install the plugin without losing data. How do I go about doing that, as when you proceed to delete it, the message that pops up is “Do you want to delete the plugin with all its data?” There is no other option.
Kind Regards
Andrea
Hi there,
The best way to upgrade a plugin without losing any data is to upload the files directly to the plugin folder via FTP or a file manager in your hosting dashboard.
For instance, to upgrade WooCommerce itself:
- Navigate to
/wp-content/plugins
- Rename the existing
woocommwerce folder to woocommerceOLD
- Upload the
woocommerce.zip file for the most recent version to /wp-content/plugins
- Unzip the file to create a new
woocommerce folder
- Go to
Dashboard ➔ Plugins ➔ All Plugins and activate WooCommerce
- Initiate any database updates that are notified in the dashboard
The process is basically the same for any plugin you wish to manually update.
I hope that helps you to figure it out.
Feel free to get back to us if you have further questions.
