I am unable to reinstall woocommerce as there are apparently already files present, but it isn’t showing up as a plugin at all and my shop is down. My hosting company advised Woocommerce requires a database upgrade but I am unable to do this on my own (the link to update doesn’t work). Is there a way to manually upgrade the woocommerce database? Please/thanks!

  • Hi @lwhitemusic

    Thanks for reaching out!

I am quite confused about your issue here. You mentioned that the WooCommerce plugin is not listed under Plugins > Installed Plugins, and yet you would like to manually update the WooCommerce database, correct?

Can you please try to reinstall WooCommerce by following the support guide on this page: Installing and Uninstalling WooCommerce. This should regenerate the database files on your site.

If your database is still not using the latest version, 7.3.0, please update by going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools > Update Database

If you encounter any error along the way, can you please share with us a clear screenshot of what you see on your end so that we could address you more effectively?

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, you can try https://snipboard.io or http://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Hi there – I am also confused but appreciate your efforts to help. No, I am not trying to UPDATE the database as that doesn’t work. Neither am I able to reinstall woocommerce, because it won’t work – there are already “files” present. My hosting company told me I need a database UPGRADE and they also say that they are unable to do this themselves. It won’t let me upload my screenshots here but basically, when I try to “update woocommerce” or “run the database upgrade” nothing happens – the page just refreshes. And when I try to reinstall woocommerce, it says “installation failed – destination folder already exists”. So how can I manually upgrade my database, if at all? I have used this plugin successfully for 8 years and hope someone will help me so I can continue to operate my shop this way – please/thanks!

    Hi @lwhitemusic

Thank you for providing further information about your issue here. If you could ask them what database upgrade they are referring to here so that we could point you to the right direction.

And when I try to reinstall woocommerce, it says “installation failed – destination folder already exists”.

Have you tried to update WooCommerce based on the support guide on this page instead? How To Update WooCommerce

Can you please share what happens if you click this link?

As mentioned above, you could update WooCommerce database by going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools > Update Database.

If you’re unsuccessful in doing so, please provide screenshots using https://snipboard.io or http://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.
