I closed my shop sadly, and no longer need woocommerce. I was able to delete most of the extras, but the woocommerce plugin and the woocommerce paypal payment plugin will NOT delete. It won’t even let me check the box to delete it. I was able to deactivate it, but it will not disappear. I manually deleted all the pages and images since I could not get the main plugin to delete. How do I get rid of them?

There is no link since I deleted everything, but I do have a screenshot of the plugins page showing them still listed, but the box is not visible and delete is not an option. Help 🙂

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there!

I understand how confusing and frustrating this can be.

Before proceeding further, please make sure that all other plugins that depend on WooCommerce have already been deleted from your site. If a plugin requires WooCommerce to function, WordPress may prevent WooCommerce from being fully removed until those dependent plugins are gone.

If everything else has already been removed and the issue still persists, could you please share a screenshot of your Plugins list? This will help us clearly see:

    • How WooCommerce and the PayPal plugin are appearing
    • Whether the checkbox or delete option is missing
    • Any notices or indicators shown next to the plugins

Once we can see exactly what you’re seeing on the Plugins screen, we’ll be in a much better position to guide you on the next steps.

    Thank you

thank you. Yes, all other woocommerce plugins have been deleted and the pages were manually removed. There is one plugin that will NOT delete along with the main woocommerce one. No matter how many times I try, it refuses to go.

The boxes are there but not available for checking. I copied and pasted the screenshot but it is not working. I am sure I did it wrong. Please advise how to share screenshot. Thank you!

    Hi there,

Thanks for the update and no worries at all, screenshots can be tricky to share sometimes

To share the screenshot with us, please use this tool: https://snipboard.io

Once we can see the Plugins screen and how WooCommerce (and the remaining plugin) are appearing, we’ll have a much clearer picture of what’s going on and can guide you on the next steps accordingly.

    Hi @oceanbuddha,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, that really helps clarify what you are seeing on the Plugins screen. I can understand how confusing it is to have WooCommerce and the PayPal plugin stuck there even after closing your shop, and I am keen to help get you pointed in the right direction so this can be fully resolved.

One important thing to note is that this topic is currently posted in the WooCommerce Square forum, while the issue itself is related to the WooCommerce core plugin and plugin management. It is always best to post topics in the forum that directly matches the issue a merchant is experiencing, as that ensures the right team and contributors see it quickly and also makes it easy for other merchants to reference the thread when they experience similar issue. This was not called out earlier in the thread, and I appreciate your patience there.

While I would be happy to walk you through the cleanup steps, the best next move is to open this same topic in the main WooCommerce forum here and include the screenshot link you have already shared: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/woocommerce/#new-topic-0

In that new topic, we will also need to review your system information to understand why WordPress is preventing deletion. Since WooCommerce is currently deactivated, you can get this from Tools, Site Health, then open the Info tab and click Copy site info to clipboard. Please paste that information into https://pastebin.com and share the Pastebin link in the new WooCommerce forum topic.

Once that is in place, we can review the details and guide you through the correct steps to fully remove WooCommerce and any remaining dependencies. Looking forward to helping you get this wrapped up.

My apologies, I did not even notice the square part 🙂 yes please move to the correct forum. Once confirmed there, I will share the system info as instructed. Thank you again and my apologies 🙂

@oceanbuddha No worries at all, we appreciate you following up.

Just to clarify what my colleague mentioned earlier: we’re not able to move support topics between forums, as we only have access to the ww.wp.xz.cn support system. When you get a moment, please open a new topic in the correc forum. You’re welcome to include a link back to this thread along with your system info and any findings. That will work perfectly.

Keeping things organized on the WooCommerce side helps ensure the issue gets proper visibility, especially since this appears to be related to WooCommerce core rather than Square.

Looking forward to hearing from you over there.
