I don’t know why, I haven’t changed anything recently that should affect this.
I know word count will be updated in WordPress 4.3 that will be released next week – Will you update to to 4.3 in the near future ?
I will check if it works on WP 4.3 release candidate, and take it from there.

Checked another site I have, and wordcount worked.
What version of wordpress are you using ? And what theme ?
Word count also not working for me, using WP 4.3 with the Genesis framwork.

yes, me too… after updated wp core version to 4.3 word count doesn’t work.

There is a problem with word count in Frontier Post with WordPress 4.3,
I can’t figure out what is wrong, but will keep trying

This is apparatly a bug in WP 4.3, I will report it and see if I can find a workaround

Hi,
I found a workaround.
I can enable tinymce wordcount instead of WordPress standard wordcount. I actually used this in earlier versions of Frontier Post.
I will be back very soon with a release with an option to use this.

You can now test it (version is 3.7.2) by installing the development version: https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/frontier-post.zip
Once installed you will have a new option in advanced settings where you can enable tinymce wordcount.
I haven’t tested it enough to release it yet – the new version contains the following:
= 3.7.2 =
* Added possibility to use tinymce wordcount, as standard wordpress wordcount does not work in frontend from version 4.3 (advanced settings)
* New shortcode parameters:
* frontier_pagination: If set to false pagination will not be displayed – ex: frontier_pagination=”false”
* frontier_ppp: Will override post per page setting: ex frontier_ppp=5
* frontier_user_status: List of status to be displayed in list – ex: frontier_user_status=”draft,pending”
