I made no changes to MS Word or WordPress, yet I can no longer cut and paste a document from Word into WordPress without losing all Word formatting. I’ve made sure all the plugins and the theme are updated, and I’ve made sure the copy text only button is deselected, but the problem hasn’t gone away.

Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks.

Which editor do you work with in WordPress? Unfortunately, it’s not clear to me from your website

    Classic.

Then something has probably changed in MS Word. The Classic Editor and its interpretations of what is copied from Word have not changed for a long time. You could try it in the Block Editor to see if it works better there.

Thanks. I tried that and it didn’t make a difference.

In the meantime, I found a plugin called Mammoth .docx converter, and it fixed my problem.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

The problem is with MS Word – the Desktop version of 365. I currently have Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2503 Build 16.0.18623.20076) 32-bit. I have been unable to copy and paste any formatted Word into WordPress since about November 2024. It comes out in plain text.

The fix is to use the 365 online version, which copies and pastes perfectly.
