    I would like to do a backup of my blog.

    I took a look at this page:

    and WP advises there:

    Backup using cPanel X

    cPanel is a popular control panel used by many web host. The backup feature can be used to backup your MySql database. Do not generate a full backup.

    Why does WP advise not to generate a full backup?

    I saw on another site, where he suggests doing a full back up through cPanel and says to use this back up you would need to submit a support ticket with your webhost. They could perform the backup within a few minutes.

    The “Full Backup” that cPanel offers cannot be restored via cPanel, your hosting provider has to restore it for you.

    If you’d like to backup via cPanel, I recommend backing up the database and home directory separately as these can be restored via cPanel.

    Thank you James for your information. I thought this might be the intention of WP.

    But I still think the sentence:

    Do not generate a full backup.

    is too definitive and lacking information.

    Why not inform the blog builder of the possibilities and the advantages and disadvantages of each option.

    The more serious problem is if a blog builder doesn’t backup is blog — or not frequently enough.

    It is so easy this way from cPanel to backup one’s blog. — and for that unlikely occurrence of restoring from the backup — it’s not so difficult to contact one’s host — it certainly should be a possibility.

    I agree, the language should be clearer as to why you shouldn’t generate a full backup via the cPanel interface. I would use the PhpMyAdmin route for MySQL database backups anyhow.
