The alerts do not show on the original files, only the cache. I tried manual deletion (via Wordfence) but they either aren’t really being deleted or they are immediately recreated. I purged assets but was unable to purge page cache. It threw an error and told me to check file permissions. (Which are correct).

What is the safest way to delete these cache files? And why is this happening ONLY in the cache files? I don’t see any vulnerability for the current Hummingbird version we are on, nor anything else. Only these files.

  • Hello @starhorsepax2 ,

I hope you are doing well.

The alert Spam:HTML/link.pdf.B.14762 is a signature triggered by Wordfence when it detects a potentially malicious or spam-related PDF/HTML file. This typically indicates the presence of hidden links or scripts and may suggest that site files or database content have been compromised, often for SEO spam purposes.

In your case, Wordfence is flagging files within the Hummingbird cache. This usually means either the cache was generated while the site was infected, or some older cached files are still present from a previous issue.

Hummingbird cache files are stored in the /wp-content/wphb-cache/ directory. You can safely delete the /wphb-cache/ folder using a file manager or FTP. The plugin will automatically regenerate fresh cache files afterward.
