WordFence and Let's Encrypt

I am trying to track down some strange behavior, and was wondering if perhaps WordFence is intentionally stopping access to “dot” folders? Perhaps specifically “/public_html/.well-known/acme-challenge” for the Let’s Encrypt acme client.

Just trying to get a handle on why it’s failing, any input would be welcome.

Error message is just like this:
