Hello,
I have the same issue. I tried to update the Wordfence Premium and I received an error that it could not remove the old version. Now the plugin is not listed in the plugins list. I tried to install it manually, but it says that it already installed.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you,
Richard
Hi @anafasia, thanks for getting in touch.
We don’t commonly see issues with the plugin disappearing or becoming inactive, and when we do it’s sometimes the hosting provider disallowing Wordfence on their platform or disabling it temporarily for maintenance and not reenabling it. It might be worth checking if that’s the case here.
As far as action you can take immediately, I would firstly recommend renaming your /wp-content/plugins/wordfence plugin folder to “wordfence_bak” and attempting to reinstall the plugin again. If that works but you have custom configuration from your previous installation that you’d like to restore, it could be worth trying to delete the new wordfence folder and renaming the old one back again to see if it just carries on as before.
Let me know how that goes!
Peter.

@rasworpr, if you’re a Wordfence Premium customer, I recommend opening a support ticket at https://support.wordfence.com
thanks, Peter.
yes, I have a custom configuration that I would like to keep -I didn’t configure it-.
when the wordfence folder is empty it can be re-installed smoothly.
the problem is that once re-installed if you rename back the old folder, you get a message saying there’s a mistake whith the header, and the folders are kept but the plug-in is gone.
