I got update from wordfence with message quoted below. What should I do? INCLUDE or OVERWRITE.

To make your site as secure as possible, the Wordfence Web Application Firewall is designed to run via a PHP setting called auto_prepend_file, which ensures it runs before any potentially vulnerable code runs. This PHP setting is currently in use, and is including this file:

    /home/content/n3pewpnaspod01_data05/55/41186355/html/wordfence-waf.php

If you don’t recognize this file, please contact us on the WordPress support forums before proceeding.

You can proceed with the installation and we will include this from within our wordfence-waf.php file which should maintain compatibility with your site, or you can opt to override the existing PHP setting.

  • Hi @mayank0522,

Since you’re updating and the wordfence-waf.php file already exists you can choose to override it.

    Thanks,

    Gerald

I am still unsure about overwriting. Why wordfence is asking “what to do” about its own file, from user while updating. Waiting for some more comments.

    Hi @mayank0522,

I would recommend choosing overwrite as well.

The reason why Wordfence is asking is because it attempted to add auto_prepend_file, but noticed that it was already added into .htaccess.

The previous value was /home/content/n3pewpnaspod01_data05/55/41186355/html/wordfence-waf.php which might be a result of a previous Wordfence installation in another directory.

    Thanks @wfgerald and @wfdave.
I am going ahead to overwrite.
