• Hi,

I’ve been trying for a while now to find a theme for my site (http://www.appunwrapper.com) that is mobile-friendly and doesn’t break my layout. I used to use Desktop Mirrored, which was a bit cluttered and didnt have a mobile version. After testing out a number of themes, I decided that WordPress’ 2012 theme actually looks pretty good (nice and clean) and it didn’t break my layout (yay!). Problem is, I’m noticing some lag now, especially when scrolling on my iPhone in Safari (chrome is faster). I also did a speed test on Pingdom and got a score in the 70s (yikes!). On top of that, I’m sometimes seeing a single photo on a post all stretched out (on mobile), while the rest look fine.

So my question is, how do I tell if these problems are being caused by the theme? And of they are, how can I fix them? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a different theme that’s similar and won’t break the layout I have?

    Thanks!

Which page is causing you the issue?

This one in particular keeps showing one photo stretched out (but I’ve been seeing it on other posts as well): http://www.appunwrapper.com/2015/03/25/the-trace-walkthrough-guide-chapter-3/

I see it when I scroll down maybe 2/3 of the page? Specifically on mobile safari, no matter how many times I clean my cache and refresh the page. It’s been happening since I installed the theme. I don’t think it’s happening on every page, but not just the one.

The slow, laggy feeling is throughout the site.

Well, one problem is all the massive images the site is loading.. especially that page. One is 1119px × 563px (scaled to 625px × 314px), 488.32 KB (500035 bytes).

Instead of downloading and scaling down these large images, use images that are actually 625 x whatever in the posts.

The problem is, I use the WordPress mobile app to do all my writing, since I write about mobile games. The app doesn’t give a choice anymore of size for uploading. It uploads the full size, and then I can go in and change it to medium, large, etc. Do you know a way to get them to upload as 400-600 without me having to transfer them to my PC and manually edit them beforehand? Because that would be too time-consuming, considering the number of photos I use and that I’m constantly working from my iPhone & iPad.

Besides all that, things feel slower particularly since I switched themes. I like this one, so I would like to be able to keep it and fix whatever’s going on with it (if possible).

    Hi,

After you mentioned that, I looked into the issue of resizing, and it turns out that the app does have a way to limit the upload size. Going back and changing all the photos will take a while, but I’ll start doing that.

    Any idea about the theme?
