On the test mails I am getting as per the subject line

    Hi @aj2703,
    Thanks for your message.

The ‘Send Me A Test Email’ button is purely for checking your email contents before sending it. It doesn’t always have the header information you specify.

Can you try sending it by specifying only yourself in the ‘Send To’ box, triggering the notification, and see if it works as expected?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack.

    Still a no go.

I might have to give up on this.

I have over 700 members on my site and it seemed to hang while posting the post.

It may have something to do with my facebook poster i’m not sure but i’m leaning twoards it being the number of members.

Are there any options to link this to mailchimp so the mails are posted through that?.

    Hi @aj2703,
It sounds like a plugin or theme conflict to me. The number of users you have shouldn’t affect this and the WordPress@ providing that you’re overriding it correctly when setting-up the notification, should work as expected unless being override again in code or by another plugin.

You can use Postman SMTP to send emails out through SMTP or another 3rd party service if you like.

Let me know if this works.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Postman has been setup.

I did a test mail and it has sent that without issue.

However when selecting Job Lister (59) people and then posting the ad with it set for New Job posted in the Notification for box you can see a waiting (website name) and it just i guess hangs while sending. Then it crashes with this error after about 30 seconds

    Service Unavailable

    Hi @aj2703,
Glad to hear your emails are being delivered.

It sounds like a potential server issue where it might be running out of memory to me.
Are you able to try another hosting account or look to upgrade? If you were able to let me know what host and plan you’re on, I might be able to advise if this is the issue.

Alternatively, if it’s an issue with BNFW and a bug causing it to hang unexpectedly, I’m more than happy to investigate this too.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack.

Well i have never had any memory issues before. i won’t lie. i do not have a clue what the issue could be.

It happens at the time of posting the ad. It seems to me like it’s sending mails in the background but that is stopping the ad from actually being posted in the normal time.

I have tried it with all plugins deactivated except your one and postman.

If you would like I can send you admin and ftp details so you can investigate.

    Hi @aj2703,

Is each ad only being posted to the ‘Job Lister’ user role which contains 59 people?
If so, that’s a very small number of users and BNFW should be able to handle that quite easily. If it’s struggling, it’s quite possible it’s a server memory issue.

Have you tried using the admin as the ‘send to’ user and then using the BCC field to add your user role to? This will only send a single email but all users in the role will be BCC’ed in.

Let me know if this is a solution you could use in the interim. Like I say, quite happy to recommend other hosts too in case that helps. Might be worth testing.

    Thanks,
    Jack

The ads are set to only Job Seeker which is 69.

That was a little quicker. still a good 30 – 40 seconds though actually posting and it didn’t crash. However if I was to try on my other site with many many more users it would be there all day if it didn’t crash that is.

    What do you recommend?.

    Hi @aj2703,
It certainly sounds like a memory issue to me.

Are you able to let me know who your host is?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

The memory was at 512. It’s now 2048….

    Would you like access details.

    Hi @aj2703,
If it’s 2MB and it’s slow then it could be another plugin hooking into the new post published function too.

Please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

    Thanks,
    Jack
