WordPress 2.5 Database & Text Box Problems…

    Hey Guys,

    OK i recently upgraded to wordpress 2.5 and everything seems to be in order, apart from one important area in the admin. The box where you type your post in isnt working correctly. I initially thought this maybe a glitch, so i decided to install a fresh version of wordpress with 2.5 and the problem didnt exist. all was fine.

    I then decided to export the content from my blog, the one i was having problems with, and import it into the fresh copy of wordpress. The problem re-appeared, so whatever is causing this problem, must be to do with my database some how.

    You will notice none of the styling buttons or toolbar is there. Also the visual tab is selected, however it is actually showing the HTML content, and the text is the same colour as the background, as you can see, the text is there as displayed by me highlighting it in the box.

    Id really love to use the new admin, but with this error, its impossible. can anybody help with what might be causing this please?

    I found the fix in the forums (but lost the link so am searching to thank them!):

    After upgrading to 2.5 and having the visual editor problem, download 2.5 RC1 from http://ww.wp.xz.cn/download/release-archive/ and then transfer ONLY the /js/tinymce/ folder.

    I have done so, and now it works great!

    Are you saying that TinyMCE works fine with WP2.5?

    Have you tried TinyMCE Advanced with WP2.5 yet? I can’t get mine to work (version 2.2, that is) with WP2.5….

    WordPress 2.5 comes with TinyMCE 3.0 built in. You don’t need a plugin.

    I’m having the same problem. TinyMCE doesn’t have the styling buttons in the tool bar. I’ve tried fix that kristanlh suggested, but it still doesn’t work.

    Yes, but I sure like TMCE Advanced. WP2.5’s new GUI is pretty nice too.
