WordPress 3.9 Ruined my URL's or Permalinks!
-
How do I get rid of 3.9?!
This is what it used to be:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/And now what it is after upgrading to 3.9
http://jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/?preview=true&preview_id=2494&preview_nonce=edf1cdec51This is insane! It will give me crawl errors and now video ads I have started to run on google will have errors in the destination url.

Go to Settings > General and change WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com from http://jeffrey-thomas.com
Make sure they both MATCH too. 🙂
Not working
I am locked out of logging in now!
Unbelievable
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2494&action=edit
I can login now but this is what I am getting when I try to go to a post. Why would you release a upgrade that is so flawed?
How do I go back!?
Please don’t post multiple times. It makes it harder for us to help, since we have to read everything.
We can’t see what you’re getting when you edit a post because we’re not logged in. Can you provide a screenshot?
Have you tried:
- flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
- deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read “How to deactivate all plugins when you can’t log in to wp-admin” if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old
- switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is
twenty fourteen. That will force your site to use it. - manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.5 (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first.
I don’t know how to do all of that!
This is what the link is now:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/?preview=true&preview_id=2494&preview_nonce=c7220fcc7dIt used to be this:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/Why!?
They both work now? I don’t get it. All of the links I have submitted to goolge and bing are:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/
This will create crawl errors:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/healthy-guitar-bass-ukulele-lessons/?preview=true&preview_id=2494&preview_nonce=c7220fcc7dWhy has the permalink or url changed for my posts and lessons?
I can login to my account but not able to make edits to any posts…what is going on!
jtlessons, please stop posting multiple times in a row. You’re going to set off the spam filter, and it’s really frustrating to anyone trying to help you.
We can’t see your site’s preview or edit links because we’re not logged in so stop posting them. We’ll never be able to see them.
flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
If you’re running a plugin, it should have a flush cache button. Use that. If you’re not, then just flush your browser cache. Don’t know how? Google “How do I flush BROWSERNAME cache?”
deactivating all plugins
You know how to activate them? Same idea. Turn them all off. You installed plugins already, so you do know how to activate 🙂
switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme
Ditto. You changed your theme once. You do know how to do this.
manually upgrading
This means you download WordPress’ zip file, unzip it, and copy the files up.
Something has changed since the upgrade and you need to realize I have to pay my webmaster for these things you are mentioning. I do not understand how to do what you are asking on my own…got it?
Since the upgrade this is the login link that I am being sent to:
http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fjeffrey-thomas.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1It is the same login link that I used before the upgrade 3 hours ago.
When I am in wordpress everything looks fine until I go to edit a post then I get a error from google saying it can’t load the webpage.
Yet, I just realized that when I clicked on the error link I posted here it worked?! I removed it because it went to my admin area.
If you can’t do any of this, then you need to contact your webmaster for tech support and point them to this thread.
This url: http://www.jeffrey-thomas.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2548&action=edit
Is ONLY accessible to you. I can’t see it at all. Ever. I will never be able to see it no matter how many times you share it 🙂 That’s something only someone logged in can see.
