WordPress 4.0 Really Slow

    Thank you for reading this. My site has been very slow front end and back end. I have tried the method mentioned here with no luck. Actually it was the same database. I have tried to repair database in mysql panel. I can’t do anything on my site because it either times out or doesn’t load at all. I have tried it on many different computers and different internet connections. I am positive it is the website. I am on a paid shared hosting plan. Jet pack is mostly disabled and I have a few odd ball plugins (security and akismet). No caching.

    What gives? Where do I need to start? Thank you!!!!

    install caching, it’s great. make sure all your plugins and theme are up to date and compatible with wordpress. if things really don’t improve then talk to your host, if you’re on shared hosting there might be other sites that are hogging all the resources…

    Thank you Jack, I will contact my hosting company and see. Maybe they will move me to another node. I disabled caching to trouble shoot and have just left it off. Everything is up to date. I will let you know what the hosting company says. Thank you!

    Caching is great, but there are a lot of other things that can be slowing down your site. Do you have Gzip compression enabled? Also, a lot of time numerous post revisions can hog up your DB. Take a look at this list of ways to speed up your site. Some are obvious, but there are some additional great suggestions.

    Thank you boybawang!!!!! Holy cow I really appreciate that link. I also have a ton of post revisions (I can never make up my mind). I will start checking off on that list. Thank you so much! I will keep this thread open in the case that it might not work. Thank you!

    Sorry boybawang to burst your bubble but my site is not slow again. Waiting on my hosting provider to get back to me. The backend won’t load at all….

    The tips did help though! but I think there is something further wrong with my site. Thank you!

    Got it. Caching was the problem. It wasn’t on!

    Once it was on my site is still flying. Thank you!
