WordPress 4.0.1 Update Fails

I am running WordPress 4.0 and trying to update to 4.0.1.
When I run the automatic update I get the error below.
I never had a problem with this in the past.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Have you used the automatic updater before without issue? This error could very well as simple as making sure your WordPress file and directory are set correctly. You can read more about what the permissions should be (or at least what WP recommends): http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Changing_File_Permissions

OR if you are using a security plugin, it may need to be deactivated as it may has modified permissions.

Yes I have used it numerous times without issue in the past.
I have not changed any permissions and not sure what would cause this all of a sudden. I deactivated all plugins and still had the same problem.

You may have not changed any permissions but that does not mean the host or a plugin did not at one point in time.

Ensure that all your directories and file permissions are set correctly.

Thanks for the reply’s. This turned out to be a permissions issue.
Once a gave write permissions to the WP folders the update succeeded.
