To follow up on this, your plugin is working on my localhost version (WP 4.4.2) but on a live website, the get_featured_images() function returns a blank array.
Any idea what could cause this inconsistency?

Haven’t faced this kind of issue yet. I ran tests against latest version of WordPress and all tests are passing. I am using the plugin in my own site v4.4.2 without any issue. Can you check if its because of conflicts with other plugins or theme functions?

On my end I can’t awnser if get_featured_images() function returns a blank array, but it doesn’t seems to work when I use it in my site. So it looks like I’m having the same issue as Martin.

The plugin is fully compatible with WordPress 4.4.2. Checked in different servers and verified from various users. If you are still facing such problems open the issue here with proper information helpful for debugging and steps to reproduce the issue if possible. I am closing the issue for now.
