WordPress 5.5 & Customizer crashed

    Hi Folks,

    I have just updated WordPress to version 5.5. From that point on the customizer in the Screenr-Thema doesn’t work anymore.

    On Google I found a lot of similar issues with other themes. These guys come to the conclusion that a theme update will fix that issue.

    I am using Screenr Plus.

    We’ve released a new version of Screenr theme v1.2.2 please update the theme to fix the issue.

    Hi there
    I have WordPress 5.5 and Screenr Plus v1.2.2 but the customizer is still not working.
    Any suggestions on how to solve it?

    Unfortunately, I can confirm: updated WordPress today from 5.4 › 5.5.

    Now, the Customizer Interface doesn’t fully load (only “Widgets” section, everything else does not appear).

    This error occured on two (independent) sites – the first one has been updated to WP 5.5 AFTER updating plugins + themes, the other site has been updated BEFORE updating plugins + themes.

    Have only been able to (temporarily) retrieve the Customizer Interface by deactivating the Screenr Plus plugin – then (of course), all premium features got lost!

    To me, this seems to be the jQuery Migartion issue:

    jQuery Migrate is a tool that came with WordPress and has been activated by default for years – since WordPress 5.5, it has been deactivated by default.

    This change has been publicly communicated for a long time and plugin and theme developers have been advised to keep their code current and to update it.

    This was obviously neglected by some developers, and users therefore, have a website that is no longer functioning in parts. The problems can affect anything: media library, customizer, menu, statistics, etc.
