When the “Additional Firewall rules -> Deny Bad Query Strings” setting is enabled it blocks the new WordPress 5.8 Widget screen. I needed to disable the setting to get access to the Widget screen.
    Thanks for a great plugin!

    Apologies for the delay.
Can you activate the Deny “Bad query string” setting
Could you then try opening the widget with your your browser’s developer console loaded and take a screen shot of any errors
    To load the developer console:
    Press CTRL+SHIFT+J (CMD+OPT+J on a Mac) or F12
A Developer Tools sub-window should appear
In the Developer Tools window, click the ‘Console’ tab

@elizebuys I have just tested that the Additional Firewall rules -> Deny Bad Query Strings feature is working fine with Appearance > Widgets screen functionality of WordPress 5.8.
