    Hi,

Looks like today after updating WP to 6.8, when creating a post and saving a DRAFT, the permalink is not created. It’s only created when post is PUBLISHED. Setting the post back to DRAFT, removes permalink. Is this an issue with your plugin?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Initially, in earlier versions of Permalink Manager, the custom permalink was generated and saved regardless of post status.

I decided to change it and now the custom permalink is set only for items with “publish” post status. It is not exactly an issue, as I introduced this in June, 2023 in 2.4.1.2 version after numerous requests from other users.

You can find more info about this change here:

Hi, thank you for the response. That’s interesting because I use it on a couple of sites, and it never behaved this way until today — and your plugin has been regularly updated. This change is inconvenient, as I’m no longer able to edit the permalink until the post is published. When I revert it back to a draft state, the edited permalink is lost. I much preferred the previous behavior, where the permalink was assigned from the first time the post was saved, regardless of its status.

    Hi @tracemyip,

It is still possible to edit the custom permalink also when the post is a draft. If you need this to work like it did before, please change “Exclude drafts & pending posts” option to “Do not exclude” under “Settings -> Exclusion settings“. Changing this should make the custom permalink editor visible for both drafts and published posts/pages.

To clarify, from version 2.4.1.2 onwards, the plugin should automatically hide the custom permalink editor when working with drafts. If the editor is displayed for drafts on other websites, it is possible that the “Exclude drafts & pending posts” setting on those sites were already changed.

Please note however, that if you change the custom permalink for a draft, the plugin will save & store it (it will not be lost), but it will be applied only after the post status is changed to “publish”.

    Best regards,
    Maciej
