• Hi
I’ve recently uploaded my WordPress site to my Web Hosting Server.
My WordPress “folio/blog” works pretty good; i’m happy.

But since I had an html on the same server, when I enter the url of my html site, it takes me to my ….WordPress page????!!!

I don’t know much about Hosting but I tought that when you log to WordPress, the app recognize the index.php file and thats why WorsPress site comes online.
My ohter site was done with html, so it uses the index.html file to load the site.

Am I right? or totally off?

    any help will be appreciated

    thanks

    Jean-Yves

Yes but. You can’t have two front doors, if that analogy would make any sense.

You can’t have BOTH an index.php and an index.html. Just one or the other. Your HTML site is still there, but you can’t get at it unless you name it old-index.html or something.

Tried what? Naming the index.html something else and going to domain.com/new-name-of-index.html ?

    ok just got it.
of course it works if I add index.html (or something else) to my url

    http://www.ahernphotos.com/index.html

I wish I could get to my html without adding index.html

    ps I’m a newbie πŸ™‚

    And you went to domain.com/old-index.html?

What did you see? If you can share your URL that may help πŸ™‚

    here’s the 2 links

    http://www.ahernphotos.com/index.html

as I said I wish I could une only the domain name
    http://www.ahernphotos.com without the index.html

Okay, what I’m saying is you need to RENAME index.html.

There is no way to have BOTH the index.php (used by WordPress) and your index.html in the same location. If you do, bad things will happen.

Are you even using WordPress MultiSite?

    (@jya)

no, I don’t know much about WordPress
But of course I will take a look at the WordPress Multisite.

    thanks for your help
    i appreciate it!

NO! Do not take a look at MultiSite!

If you’re having problems understanding why you can’t have two index files in one location, you’re not ready for it πŸ™‚ I was asking because you posted IN the WordPress MultiSite section.

    I’m moving your post.
