• Hello everybody,
I can’t get my wordpress to update automatically (to version 4.7.4 now). Since a hack because of outdated version I pay much attentions to updates, and was hoping that it would update automatically like it did on another site I had on a shared web hosting. this other site is now on a dedicated server and same issue…

Now on the first site I was talking about I tried to trigger manually with wp_maybe_auto_update() but no effect, I checked the log and I can see that the command is taken into account but there is no update… I installed plugin “update tester”, everything is green, I checked the config, it is set to minor though I know this is default. I tried also plugin “Easy Updates Manager” where everything looks fine…

So I need help with this please, how can I check update process when I trigger it manually ? What could be wrong with my configuration ?

    Thanks !

  • Hello djiock, & welcome. The first place to look is in your server logs to see what, if any, errors the site is throwing. Given what you’re saying, I suspect there are plenty, &, if I were a betting lady, which I’m not, both because I hate losing money & because I don’t have any to lose, I’d bet you have a permissions/ownership problem. Specifically, your WordPress files should be owned & writeable by the webserver user.

If you’re still having trouble, please paste error log entries in your next reply, & we can have a look.
