WordPress can’t see my database

    Usernames match, passwords match, databases match between the config file and what I see in phpMyAdmin. I even went as far as to ctrl+c ctrl+v between the two because I wondered if I was going crazy and getting letters wrong. WordPress just can’t see my database at all. I have a message board running so I know the darned thing is up. What do I do?

    99 times out of a hundred it is something wrong in wp-config.php.

    I already looked at that a dozen times. Like I said, I copied and pasted exactly what was in phpMyAdmin into the config file, and it still says the database is not there. I don’t understand. Is it a problem I’m using MySQL 5? That’s the only big difference from the last time I tried WP.

    Who is your host (e.g. Dreamhost)?

    What do you have for DB_HOST in wp-config.php?

    Have my own dedicated server.

    DB_HOST is localhost

    How about

    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock');

    or change localhost to IP (e.g. 127.0.0.1)

    Neither worked, unfortunately :/
