• Forgive my ignorance, but if I install WordPress and later decide I don’t want to use WordPress or outgrow WordPress, what happens to all my content? Does it disappear with the uninstall? Will I have to import all my content in again?

  • The great thing about WordPress is that you can export XML of all your content and comments, tags and categories, etc. via Dashboard > Tools > Export. Then there are ways to import the content in other applications.

How about the other way around? What if I create a web page and decide to use WordPress after I already have content up, is it just as easy that way?

If you create a website from any of those listed in this page – http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Importing_Content – there are ways and means to import the content to your WordPress installation. Although I think it’s great that you want to set up your own hosted WordPress site, why not see if WordPress works for you by getting a free account at WordPress.com. There are limitations to theme choice and plugins, but that should give you a bird’s eye view on what to expect.
