Does the backup also include the WordPress core version, and should I first install WordPress and then upload the files from BackWPup in order to use BackWPup? Will the version of WordPress then be changed to the BackWPup backup?

I also have the following question: can I use the backup in the free version to move to a different URL?

    Hi @anna88sabu,

Thank you for your questions 🙂

Does the backup include the WordPress core version?

Yes. If you created a Files or Complete (Files + Database) backup, it includes:

    • WordPress core files
    • Themes
    • Plugins
    • Uploads
    • Database

When you restore the backup, the WordPress version will match the version that was included in the backup at the time it was created.

    You can either:

    • Install a fresh WordPress first and then restore using BackWPUp, or
    • Manually upload the backup files and import the database

    https://backwpup.com/docs/how-to-restore-a-wordpress-backup/#Manually_restore_a_WordPress_Backup
After the restore, the site will reflect the exact state of the backup.

Can I use the free version to move to a different URL?

Yes, you can use the free version to move to another URL. However, in the free version, you will need to manually update the site URLs in the database after restoring (old domain → new domain).

If you would like this process to be more automated, BackWPUp Pro offers a standalone restore app that simplifies restoring and migrating to a different URL.

You can find more details here:
