WordPress domain

I have purchased a domain with Bluehost, but was wondering if I would be able to cancel my Bluehost account and register my domain with WordPress.com. Would that be possible and is it likely that my domain would still be available?
I know I could map my Bluehost domain, but then I would have to still pay Bluehost on top of WordPress for the domain mapping.
