It’s been about a month since I switched from WordPress.com to ww.wp.xz.cn self-hosting through Dream Host. With some help from wordpress.com assistance, I was able to migrate my followers from that website to my current site. The trouble I’m having now is I can’t see any new followers. I get an email confirmation for a WordPress follows, but on the new site, the number hasn’t increased since I redirected the website. I’m not sure if it’s being redirected correctly because people are still following trying to following the wordpress.com site.

It’s all very confusing so I’m trying to get an understand of what’s happening and why I can’t see it. If I add the widget via Jetpack I get a completely different number of followers, so I just want a way to see without having to go to the old site to migrate followers.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

If you migrated, why are there two sites?
If the old site is still there, what would make people go to the new one? Is there a redirect?
Your self-hosted site doesn’t have anything to do “following” unless you use JetPack.

Before I switched to self-hosting, I purchased a premium plan for my domain name on WordPress.com. Once I switched to self-hosting via DreamHost I already had the name LifebyWyetha, so I figured that because I exported everything to ww.wp.xz.cn. I would just be directing the site back to itself.

… and yes I have installed JetPack.

Maybe you can direct me to some additional instructions on redirecting with the same domain name.

Jetpack doesn’t send email notifications of new followers to you.

You can see a list of your followers via Jetpack at https://wordpress.com/people/email-followers under your connected WordPress.com account.

As for folks following the old WordPress.com site, make sure that you make it private so that they can’t continue to follow it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and ww.wp.xz.cn are two different entities: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/

WordPress.com has complete documentation and support contacts at https://support.wordpress.com/ and Jetpack at https://jetpack.com/support/
