WordPress instead of Evernote
-
I know someone who is still in the stoneage (in internet years)…. Years ago, they started emailing themselves interesting links with a little text in the body (so they can search for it). Overtime many of these links became dead links, so they began copying/clipping as much of the text as possible to preserve the content they liked, and also increased the ability to search in their email client.
Evernote and Pocket (read it later) and similar services are of no interest, as he does not want another company having access to what he reads and saves.
I told him we should create a private wordpress site and he came back with some questions.
Posting..
How much of a page is it possible for wordpress to pull?
I know it is possible to email a post to your wordpress site, but I was wondering if it is possible to copy all the contents of a page, essentially getting the entire article, when emailing a link to your wordpress site? How good is the wordpress search? Will it search all the content of a post?
When automatically posting, will wordpress ( or the plugin) preserve links on the page?
I am not sure if using the p2 theme would make sense for him. He would be saving while surfing the internet and possibly posting from his smart phone.
He would always be able to export the site if he wanted.
He is interested in maintaining a private library of things to read, and things he has read.
