    Hello

My site has been working fine and we are now prepping to expand so I installed WP Multisite and created my network. I followed the instructions as described and everything is fine in my network admin.
The issue is that I set up a second site under subdomain “site2”, and then with my hosting account with GoDaddy I set up the subdomain “site2”. When I try to get to the dashboard of site2.mydomain.com there is an error. When I look on the hosting side, the folder “site2” is empty thereby explaining the error.

I contacted GoDaddy and they were no help.
I am confused about what I am missing.

    Thanks,

That folder is supposed to be empty. In fact, the sub.domain.com should be pointed to the same place as domain.com. If you are unsure ask your provider to make those changes.

I can make the change to point the subdomain to the root folder but I don’t understand how Multisite works then if the sub.domain.com points to domain.com.

Basically I have a site at domain.com and I need to make a duplicate site for a different city
Domain.com is city 1 and I want city2.domain.com for a different city. Same theme and layout just different info on it.
If I point the sub to domain.com will Multisite create the other site at the sub I specified?

WordPress does it’s magic 🙂 If you plan on adding several to many subdomains you can create a wildcard subdomain: *.domain.com and point it to /public_html/.
