WordPress possibilities (CMS)?

Hi, I am currently helping a friend build a website about a new revolution conserning industry that needs to take place. A move from a destructive, hostile development system to a Cradle to Cradle (see Cradletocradle.com) closed cycle, sustainable and just system. The site that we are going to build will be a platform to launch ideas, connect and network with likeminded people and do business. To this end we want to make a wordpress blog (for news), a classified ads section, a forum (Bbpress), a link directory and maybe a wiki. We want to know if wordpress can be made into an effective Content Management system that has all these functions? Also we want the wordpress blog to feature a system that allows users to send in their own stories if that is possible.
