Hi, I understand that with a Jetpack free plan, your self-hosted content won’t appear in the Posts search results ( https://jetpack.com/support/reader/ ), but I’m struggling to understand just how limiting that is.

I recently switched from WordPress.com to self-hosting through Bluehost ( jacqueline-of-all-trades.com ) and my RSS feed is empty on the WordPress Reader ( https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/113790937 ). While I have migrated my followers, several of my readers have reported not seeing my posts in the Reader. I have checked and my RSS feed is valid. Additionally, I have posted since the switch and those aren’t appearing either. Is there something wrong here on my end or do I just need to upgrade Jetpack?

If I do need to upgrade, will any plan suffice? I’m not seeing this difference laid out in the pricing models ( https://jetpack.com/features/comparison/ ), so I’m assuming any plan will do?

    Hi @jacquelineofalltrades

I took a look for you and found that in the WordPress.com Reader, your feed url was being reported as http://box5822.temp.domains/~jacqufx3/feed which is likely the temporary address your host gave you while you were moving the site over.

It also looks like your site had not synced with WordPress.com servers via Jetpack since you moved it over, which might account for the above not having been updated. I’ve launched a full sync of your site. Let’s give it 24 hours or so and then see if the feed URL in the Reader updates to the correct one.

@bruceallen – Just wanted to follow-up on this. It still seems to be a problem on my end?

    Hi there @jacquelineofalltrades,

I made another small change to update the feed URL and refreshed it after the sync got completed; hopefully, now everything should be all set.

Can you check that again at your end for me and let me know if you still have issues? 🤞

    Thanks!

Hi @erania-pinnera! This seemed to work – I’m seeing my feed now! Thank you!

Will posts that were written before I moved to self-hosted sync up? I see two or three in this feed, but I have probably about 100 posts that aren’t there at all. Will these old posts slowly start showing up?

Thanks again for all your help!

    Hi @jacquelineofalltrades!

I see your posts in the Reader from Jan 23rd onwards. Since your site’s last full sync was done before we amended the feed, I have launched another full sync now.

Please allow up to 72 hours for the sync updates to propagate, and let me know if you see your posts in the reader afterwards. Thanks!
