Hey there
This looks to be a standard .html file with the following code:
<pre align=center><form method=post>Password: <input type=password name=pass><input type=submit value=’>>’></form>
If you look in the root of the install, do you see any .html files such as index.html? If so, remove it and your site *should* come back
Hi,
Thanks for reply.
No there is no index.html file in the root of the site, no idea where its getting this page from!
Very strange, thanks for help though.
Are you not able to get into the WordPress admin Dashboard? If so, deactivate all plugins and try again. If this doesn’t work, contact your host immediately.
Hi,
No cant access at all, if I go to any page it just comes up with that password box.
Have contacted the webhosts but they haven’t been very helpful so far sadly!
Thanks again for help.
Are you the only one working on this site? did you install any password plugins? But this really doesn’t look like a plugin. This definitely has to be some type of index file on your site. Check your index.php file too just in case.
No not the only person, but they said they havent worked on it in a while and I checked the FTP plugins folder and there hasnt been a new plugin since two months ago either.
Still hunting around for this other file, nothing in the index.php file either.
What is really strange also is that password form doesn’t seem to do anything anyway. I don’t think its really password protecting anything, its just for display purposes it seems.
Did you figure this out? One of our sites is doing the same thing now.
Peg,
Its best to create your own topic, but what is the link to your site? I need to know what it looks like in order to tell you what it is. Thanks
I try to post the url here but it does not appear to let me.
Just type in name of domain dot com or something….it should let you just fine
Thanks
<pre align=center><form method=post>Password: <input type=password name=pass><input type=submit value=’>>’></form>
That is the page source code. It seems its just an index.html file in your root or something. Check via FTP and remove anything that says index.html
Hi!
Sorry should of marked this topic as resolved.
The site was hacked, looked at a few of the WordPress files and it had all sorts of stuff in the code about Viagria and stuff!!
So I had a back up, updated the site to the latest version of the WordPress, and has been fine since then!! (also moved web hosts, and the last one wasnt good at all!)
Hopefully you have a back up also! will fix the problem.
Thanks for responding Shibby. Yes if the index.html file was added by this person then yes hacked is most likely same cause here. In fact, it looks identical to what your site looked like so Peg, I would recommend going down the path of cleaning your hacked site.
